Part of the Learning Nature series, Winter Woods explores AI’s interpretation of winter landscapes through machine learning algorithms trained on photographs from the artist’s farm in Bovina, NY. The neural networks generate their own visions of bare trees, snow, and winter light, creating dreamlike interpretations that blur the boundaries between digital imagination and natural observation. These works ask not for photographic accuracy but for the machine’s unique understanding of seasonal transformation and dormancy.
